A few predictions:

1) He’ll end up on the internet accidentally multiple times every month.
2) He won’t last an entire year.
3) He’ll develop strange social quarks, similar to those of an autodidact. 
4a) He’ll find other hobbies to distract himself with - possibly become addicted to.
4b) The internet retreat will lead to other forms of technology-related retreat.
